MINUS 30 Days, 13 Hours and 45 Minutes...

So, as those of you who know me are quite aware, I'm heading off to the U. S. of A. in (Oh My!) a little over 30 days on my University work placement. As any Uni student can agree, it can be pretty tough at the best of times managing to stay in contact with all of your close friends and loved ones- even when you're only a few hundred miles away, let alone 6000!

In the UK I may as well be surgically attached to my little iPhone; ringing my Mom, my Auntie, my Dad, texting friends- so much so that my affection for having a good old natter on my mobile is an over-tired source of banter amongst my Uni flatmates. In the US, no can do. Not only am I going to be working a pretty much full-time job and loving my life exploring a whole new continent that just so happens to be 6 hours behind the UK, but my previously beloved phone is also now going to require a small mortgage to fund to my required usage level! Not going to happen...

My plan is to use this blog to communicate with as many of you as possible, as often as possible. Letting you all know about my makeshift life in the US, my desperate efforts to make friends who can understand the way I speak and my work in the Biophysics lab (for those biochems who might be interested!) I think this arrangement has benefits for us all...

One...I'll only have to re-live my cringe-worthy life events once as I type them into this little box (rather than over and over again as I tell each one of you my embarrassing tales individually!)
Two... I'm much less likely to annoy anyone by forgetting to tell them something I have already told somebody else ( Yes, Mom, Donna and Nan- I'm talking about YOU)
Three... If you're not actually that interested in my placement life but feel obliged to read my blog anyway, you can just speed read over it OR even just tell me you've read it and skip it entirely without having to worry if you'll hurt my feelings!
Four...Hopefully, you'll all feel like staying in some form of contact with me is easy and we don't have to worry about the time differences depending on where we all are in the big-wide world!
Five...Of course-->NO LANGUAGE BARRIER... for those of you who STILL cannot figure out the accent! (Though I'm certainly not promising perfect grammar!)

annnddddddd.... by the end of the year, I'll have a ready-made travel Journal to remember an amazing year in the States!

WARNING: This blog will almost definitely be as long and rambling as this introduction would suggest.

Love Love,

Broc xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
